For those of you that have followed us for sometime, you will know that the initial figures of £25k rose to £50k fairly quickly and as such we really intensified our efforts to hit the new target. In our minds eye, we always wanted to see work starting by Dec to in someway recognise the impact our little girl has made on our lives, and we expected to achieve this by our self-imposed deadline. The news just 4 weeks ago that we now needed to raise £100k is both a huge challenge and an even bigger blow to Michelle and I in terms of trying to get that sense of something constructive following the loss of Emily by the December date.
Again as many of you will know, we have a little boy called Finlay, he makes us proud everyday of the week and is absolutely our world. Emotionally, he is going to hell and back following the loss of Emily, as a five year old he is having to try and deal with things that I struggle with at the age of 38. He is getting support and we are really pleased with the progress he is making but on regular intervals our fundraising and talking about losing Emily is causing him more and more distress - tonight I have made him a promise before going to bed, that we will work as hard as we can to reach the required level of funding for the bereavement suite and if possible stick to our original promise of starting the building work in December, so that he doesn't have to keep listening to us discuss how we lost Emily.
Now for the plea!
Since losing Emily, we as a family have given everything to make the bereavement suite a reality in Nottingham but our son always has to be our priority. So I make a plea to everyone that reads this blog, if you can help us in anyway whether it is attending one of our many events over the next few weeks, making a donation via paypal on the website or if you are willing and able to run a fundraiser on our behalf (coffee morning/tombola/party night) we really would appreciate it.
You can donate on our website via the donations page, you can pay for your event tickets on the events page using our paypal facility. Really any donation you can make will make a huge difference to us right now and will mean a life changing experience for future parents who lose their babies in the future.
Thank you x
