Forever Stars keeps surprising Michelle and I every day, whether it be the news coverage we receive, the generosity of others or quite often the messages that we receive from other parents that have suffered from similar losses.
I can imagine that people look at what we are doing from two camps, some will be very understanding and sympathetic to the reasons we have set up Forever Stars and equally I'm sure there will be people thinking we're just attention seekers banging on about the same thing all the time!
Today is one of those days when losing Emily is all to real and the hurt the family feels comes to the forefront of our hearts and minds. In fairness we do have less days like this with the passing of time but nevertheless we're having one today. I myself have shed a few tears at my desk equally Michelle has cried at home, there isn't an explanation for this, apart from grief, we're just four days away from it being 5 months since we lost our little Emily and whenever we discuss what happened with reporters or just people who stop us in the street, it feels like it was yesterday again.
The impact on Finlay is still being felt, the lack of support for a child of 5 that has lost a sibling in this way is shocking, we're just very grateful Fin is going to such a great school who have gone out their way to get support. Would you believe that a family in Beeston have to travel to Newark to get support for child bereavement - yet another shocking turn of events that I wouldn't have believed had I not been going through it myself.
We're leading a very different sort of normal in the Daniels house at the moment, we're desperate to achieve the goals for Forever Stars, one because we need to have this resource in Nottingham and further afield but also because at some point we need to close this chapter of the book, learn to live with our baby daughter in a way we can't imagine and move forward as a family, we'll do it but how…answers on a postcard please x
Back to business…
Tomorrow we have the Forever Stars Charity Match at the City Ground, words can not express how grateful we are to everyone who is playing and I hope that we get plenty of support down at the City Ground from 1pm to cheers the guys on (collection buckets will be around the main stand!)
You won't be surprised to learn Michelle and I are going to the dogs!! From 6.30pm we'll be at Nottingham Greyhound Racing raising money for Forever Stars - tickets are still available £4 rather than £6.00 on the door - email richard.daniels@mac.com if you want some!!
