“Our baby James was stillborn at 26 weeks in April 2017. We received support and solace at the Serenity Suite at Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC), which was funded by Forever Stars. It was a quiet place where we could grieve and escape the sounds of newborn babies.”
Running helped Chris and his wife Cat get through the heartache and difficult time. The couple previously raised £4,000 for Forever Stars when, one year after losing James, Cat took on her own 100-mile running challenge for the charity.
Cat continued running, including as a member of Holme Pierpoint Running Club, up until 2020 when she became pregnant with her daughter Ella, now five years old.
Chris is taking part in the Robin Hood Half Marathon 2025 to raise funds and awareness for Forever Stars. “Signing up to run the Robin Hood Half Marathon has given me a reason to get back into running,” says Chris. “Not only is it an opportunity to again raise money for Forever Stars, it’s also a time to think about James and keep his memory alive, eight years since losing him.”
