Ellis-Fermor & Negus case study

Forever Stars is an independent, volunteer-run charity that relies heavily on donations. The support from local organisations and businesses plays a vital role in helping us continue our work with baby loss families.

We are so grateful to have some great relationships with a variety of corporate supporters. We work closely with these supporters to ensure they take advantage of the benefits that come with partnering with a charity. In this case study, we speak with Joanna Shields from Ellis-Fermor & Negus (EFN) who selected Forever Stars as their charity of the year for 2024/25.

How did your partnership with Forever Stars begin?

A contact of the firm, introduced EFN to Forever Stars. We set up a meeting with one of the founders, Richard, and it seemed a natural fit with our charity of the year criteria.

Why Forever Stars?

Several members of staff were keen on Forever Stars as they either had previous links to the charity or they had friends with links to them and we like to represent the subjects that are important to our staff team. So many families are touched by the subject matter that we felt it was important to raise awareness. They are also based close to one of our offices which is important given our firm’s ethos in supporting the local community.

How have you supported the charity?

We have taken part in several fundraisers including one member of staff completing Tough Mudder last year, an office Bake Off challenge, donating chocolates both at Christmas and Easter and collecting money in charity tins in all five reception areas of the firm. They were also invited to speak at the firm’s annual summer dinner to raise awareness and funds.

How has supporting Forever Stars benefitted EFN?

It has taught us more about the subject matter and how far the funds raised go towards helping families who have suffered baby and infant loss. We have also enjoyed attending the charity’s Beyond Business Events which have enabled us to network with other clients and businesses. We have been humbled and honoured to be able to call Forever Stars our charity of the year for 2024/25.

What advice would you give to other organisations looking to establish similar partnerships?

The charity is incredibly approachable, welcoming and proactive, led by two very passionate people in Richard and Michelle and supported by an army of dedicated volunteers. They make sponsoring them so easy because they are always fundraising one way or another and it is very easy to get involved. They are a small charity with a huge impact and we would heartily recommend them to other organisations looking for a charity to support.
