How did the partnership begin?
Tim White, Director at Mortimer Projects, first crossed paths with Forever Stars Co-Founder Richard Daniels at an RSViP networking event in 2024. Tim had personal experience within his family of baby loss, and understood first-hand the emotional and practical challenges it brings.
He had already seen the difference that specialist support can make to families during such a difficult time, and after learning more about the work Forever Stars do, he was keen to help in any way he could. What started as a conversation over coffee quickly grew into a meaningful connection, with Tim offering his skills and expertise to support the charity’s future projects.
Supporting Forever Stars
Tim’s most recent contribution has been his pro bono project management role on the redevelopment of the garden at Ward A23 at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham. This project was the focus of Forever Stars’ main fundraising campaign last year – Supporting 1 in 4 in 2024 – and is designed to provide a calm, private outdoor space for bereaved families to spend time together during their stay at the hospital.
In his role, Tim has been the key link between multiple parties – surveyors, project managers, interior fit-out specialists, and construction teams – as well as senior contacts at the QMC. His work involves coordinating timelines, solving on-site challenges, and making sure that every element of the build meets both the practical requirements of the hospital and the emotional needs of the families who will use it.
Tim’s background in quantity surveying and construction project management means he brings a wealth of knowledge to the table, ensuring budgets are carefully managed and the project moves forward smoothly. He’s also managed to get some of his key contacts in the industry to get involved and provide their support too. By donating his time and expertise, Tim is helping to reduce costs for the charity and ensure the funds raised by supporters go as far as possible.
Why Forever Stars?
Reflecting on why he chose to get involved, Tim says:
“Richard is a great guy – really personable – and Forever Stars as a charity are very focused on building strong relationships with their corporate supporters. They take time to get to know you, understand your skills, and work together in a way that feels mutually rewarding.”
For Tim, the connection is more than a one-off project; it’s about being part of something with a lasting legacy. The A23 garden will provide comfort for families for many years to come, and knowing he has played a role in making that happen is something he’s proud of.
Looking ahead
The relationship between Mortimer Projects and Forever Stars continues to grow, with Tim open to supporting future initiatives and encouraging others in his network to get involved. His story is a powerful example of how corporate supporters can contribute their skills, not just their funds, to make a real difference in the community.
