Forever Stars & Baby Loss Awareness Week 2026
9th–15th October 2026
In Nottingham and across the East Midlands, Forever Stars is here for families affected by baby loss.
Baby Loss Awareness Week, often shortened to BLAW, is a time to remember babies who have died during pregnancy, at birth or in infancy, to recognise the lasting impact of baby loss, and to help families know that support is available.
You might have come to this page because you’ve seen one of our billboards and would like to understand more about BLAW or our services. If you’d like to find out more, please contact our team of volunteers who are here to support you.
Who are Forever Stars?
Forever Stars is a Nottingham-based charity supporting families affected by stillbirth, miscarriage and other experiences of pregnancy, baby and infant loss.
On 19th December 2013, Michelle and Richard Daniels' daughter, Emily, was stillborn. Their experience showed them how important ongoing support can be for families following the death of a baby.
In January 2014, they established Forever Stars.
They set out to improve facilities and support for other bereaved families, and this soon grew into a community and the creation of dedicated spaces for families across Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands. These spaces include the Serenity Suites at the City Hospital and the Queen’s Medical Centre, the Serenity Garden on Highfields Park and the Serenity Centre in Beeston.
Today, our volunteers continue to raise awareness and funds to support our community and maintain these important spaces for families facing unimaginable loss.
We also provide workshops, support and information for parents and wider families, including Play Therapy for siblings who have lost a brother or sister.
Our work continues to develop as we listen to families and seek to improve the support available across our community.
What is Baby Loss Awareness Week?
Baby Loss Awareness Week, often shortened to BLAW, takes place across the UK every year from 9th to 15th October.
It brings together bereaved families, charities, healthcare professionals, businesses and communities to raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss, encourage greater understanding and highlight the support available to those who need it.
It gives us an opportunity to talk openly about baby loss and help people across Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands discover the support available to them.
Throughout Baby Loss Awareness Week 2026, we're bringing our community together through events, fundraising, remembrance and awareness activities.
The Wave of Light
Baby Loss Awareness Week ends with the Wave of Light at 7pm on Thursday 15th October.
Families, friends and supporters are invited to light a candle in memory of babies who have died during pregnancy, at birth or after birth.
As candles are lit at 7pm in different time zones around the world, they create a shared Wave of Light in remembrance.
Wherever you are, you can take part.
Baby loss may be part of your story
Perhaps your loss was recent. Perhaps it happened many years ago.
Perhaps you are a parent, sibling, grandparent, relative, friend or colleague of someone whose baby has died.
There is no single experience of baby loss, and there is no timetable for how someone should feel afterwards.
If you are looking for information or support, Forever Stars is here to help you find what you need.
Show your support
You don't need to have experienced baby loss personally to be part of Baby Loss Awareness Week.
You can help by learning more, sharing information, taking part in one of our events, fundraising, making a donation or joining the Wave of Light.
Every conversation can help make baby loss a little less hidden.
